My dream has always been to create the mental health space that my younger, immigrant self once needed. I envisioned a space where I can work in an environment alongside BIPOC therapists in order to provide therapy and healing for the BIPOC community. Wellnest is very much the manifestation of that dream.
As a trauma therapist, my practice approach is collaborative, client-centred, compassionate and non-judgemental. My work is focused on helping guide you back to your inner wisdom and peace.
My formal education includes an undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and Psychology as well as a Masters of Social Work from the University of Toronto. Throughout my career, I have provided support to individuals and couples with various concerns, including, but not limited to: anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, post-traumatic stress, relationship challenges and life transitions, burn out, stress, perfectionism, and ‘workaholic’ tendencies.
I have extensive training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and training in Sensorimotor and Somatic Psychotherapies. As a certified mindfulness meditation specialist from the University of Toronto, and a certified Yoga Teacher, I have facilitated various mindfulness-based therapy programs at a variety of institutions such as Toronto Western Hospital, Southlake Regional Health Centre, as well as community-based organizations.
I offer faith-based therapy to clients who identify as Muslim and provide services in both English and Arabic.
I am a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
