Deirdre completed her undergraduate in Psychology from the University of Victoria in British Columbia before moving to Ontario where she obtained her Masters of Social Work from the University of Toronto. In addition to working with Wellnest, Deirdre works full time as a mental health clinician in Toronto, where she has had the honour of working with a diverse and resilient community.
Deirdre values developing a strong therapeutic relationship, learning about her client’s strengths, and deeply listening to the changes her clients are wanting to see in their lives. She approaches her clients from an anti-oppressive and trauma informed lens. Deirdre has supported youth, young adults, and their families with various issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, stress, communication challenges, family reunification, and coping with transitions. Deirdre works collaboratively with clients to foster their resiliency through creatively integrating therapeutic techniques that address their needs. Deirdre has training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Brief solution Focused and Applied Mindfulness.
In session, you can expect Deirdre to be attuned to your present emotional experience, listen to your story, and support you to build connections in your world. Deirdre is curious and invitational in her approach to asking questions, addresses clients concerns non-judgmentally and values client input.
Deirdre provides intervention in English and has a good understanding of the French language.
She is a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
