Anisa received her Masters of Social Worker from University of Toronto with a specialization in Mental Health and Addictions. She has extensive experience in medical, mental health, addictions and community settings, working with diverse populations in community practice and healthcare settings. Anisa has held multiple roles within the Mental Health and Health sectors, including University Health Network, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and Canadian Mental Health Association of Peel. Anisa continues to be a part of community projects and provide mentorship to racialized youth.
Anisa offers counselling to adolescents and adults. Anisa utilizes client-centred, holistic, trauma-informed and anti-oppressive approaches. She provides cognitive behavioural therapy, strengthens-based, and mindfulness-based therapy, grounded in principles of recovery and safety.
Anisa brings lived experience and a strong understanding of how anti-black racism, historical/inter-generational and childhood trauma have a detrimental impact on our relationships that will prevent a persons success or development moving forward.
Collaboratively we will work together to identify, question and change unhelpful emotions and behaviours causing you difficulty.
Anisa identifies as Muslim and provides faith-based therapy.
Anisa provides services in English and Somali.
